The 1923 Buccanoy Shirt by Pike Brothers is the right choice if you want something a little more upscale. What was the inspiration for it? All shirts in the 1923 Buccanoy series go back to a historical model from the 1920s, which itself has a much older tradition. Stand-up collar shirts have been the preferred choice in men's fashion since the middle of the 19th century. The highlight of the reduced collar shape: short stand-up collars offered the option of buttoning on another, more elegant collar - at the time the so-called patricide was the most popular. The removable add-on not only gave the shirt a more formal character, it also made it easier to clean and starch the collar part, which was more affected and got dirty more quickly. This type of shirt enjoyed great popularity until the 1940s, when it was increasingly replaced by the models with turn-down collars that are still widely used today and are firmly attached to the shirt.
Pike Brothers pay homage to the original – the Buccanoy shirts also allow you to button a collar.
